From the Fields...

All three farm properties contribute to the crops and products we are able to bring to market. And the entire family takes part in planting, weeding, pruning, digging, picking, plucking, and enjoying the outdoors.

New for 2008, we would like to invite people to take part in Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) here on our farms. If you are new to CSA, you can read more about it at the USDA website, and also at Local Harvest. Please download our application to join us here in the bumper and bummer crops.

Summer '08 Update: Our CSA is currently full, but you may contact us to get on a waiting list.

The fields are where the real action is

Our fields yield a wide range of vegetables: corn, salad veggies, legumes, various squashes, potatoes, tomatoes (we have 38 varieties this year!) and rhubarb. Also in our fields are the trees and bushes that bear fruit, including blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries. Studio Farm has the trees for peaches, apples, and pears. The fields at Stonyledge and Valley View also provide hay for the cows.

If you are interested in when certain fruits and vegetables are likely to be available, please see this helpful chart that indicates the time of year crops are likely to be harvested in this part of Connecticut.

If we do a good job as beekeepers throughout the year, honey will be available starting in August.  Our supply tends to sell out so be sure to stock up early in the season.  Our product line has recently been expanded to include a great beeswax hand cream and 100% beeswax candles.
